Lucas William Bunting was born at 1:32 PM on Friday, June 17th. He weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz, was just under 21" long, and has HUGE feet. Both Jordie and Luke are doing awesome.

As we were sorting through the pictures of the day, we realized that we don't have very many of Luke. We'll post more pictures in the days ahead. We were lucky to have a professional film crew from IHC (three cameras/cameramen) recording the ENTIRE event.

I was fully prepared to deliver the baby if needed...

...but, we deferred to the incredibly talented, wonderful, and photogenic Dr. Kathryn Walker.

Are we ready to have this kid??? I think so!

Jordie did awesome and only had to push a few times. Not that I have anything to compare it to personally, but the labor/delivery seemed to be pretty easy. A big thanks to Dr. Walker and our CNA Rachael at Alta View Hospital. They were incredible and helped make it an enjoyable day. More photos forthcoming here and on Facebook.

Happy anniversary to my sweetheart! Nine years ago today (10:20 a.m. to be exact) we were married and I couldn't have asked for a better companion. Jordan is my best friend and I don't think there is anyone else more perfect for me. I love that we can just sit and do nothing and be totally happy. She puts up with all of my crap (there's a LOT) and loves me for who I am. She is the most supportive wife ever and I couldn't imagine spending my life with anybody else. Nine years, one apartment, two houses, many cars, one dog, one kid (VERY soon to be two), countless vacations, multiple jobs (Jordie's got the best one now), lots of races, TONS of laughs, and a few tears...

Garrett's Birthday Festivities

We had a great two day celebration for Garrett's second birthday. We had family over for a bbq, cake, and presents. Thanks to all of our family for making the trek all the way out to Herriman. We are so lucky to have so much fanily so close to help raise our little man.

Happy birthday to our favorite little guy! Garrett turns two years old today and has definitely added a lot of fun and excitement to our family. He has such a great personality and always makes us laugh. He LOVES to "shoot it in the basket" and has actually become good friends with Otis...at least when he is not chasing him with a golf club. He will be a great big brother in a few months. We love you buddy!

Merry Christmas everybody!!! We've had a very busy month or so since our last post. Here is a quick photo recap and a short video of Christmas morning with Garrett...

We fried turkey for Thanksgiving and stuffed ourselves silly. Heather provided the turkey hat.

We went and cheered Troy on in his last home football game of his college career. We are proud of him for graduating and for letting us be a part of his football life. We have loved watching him play and will miss it.

We visited Santa Claus and Garrett was having none of it.

Halloween Recap (i.e. a cross-dressing extravaganza)

Halloween 2010 was filled with fun...and a lot of scariness. Heather and Chad ran the Halloween 1/2 Marathon in Provo and Heather thought it would be funny if they went as the Princess and the Frog; Chad as the princess and Heather as the frog. There were some confused kids along the course that had never seen a pretty blonde princess with a beard. One little girl started to cry. Princess and the Frog crossing the finish line

The evening brought even more blonde wigs and scariness. There seems to have been some sort of fascination with the movie Labyrinth and David Bowie in our household over the last few months. As a result, Chad dressed up as Jareth the Goblin King and Garrett played the part of Toby, the little boy he kidnaps in the movie. We couldn't convince Jordan to dress up and play the part of Ludo. Props to Jordan and Val for assembling such a great (freightening) costume.

St. George Marathon & Dirty Dash

We have been involved in a couple different races over the past few weeks. Jordie and I both did the inaugural Dirty Dash and had a great time. It was Jordan's first race and she did awesome especially considering she had to run most of the 6.2 miles carrying 25 lbs of mud on each foot. I also ran the St. George marathon last Saturday and despite the heat, posted a marathon PR of 3:48. A big shout out to both of my sisters who ran with me and also both posted PR's. We all had a lot of fun and then spent the rest of the day at Troy's SUU football game.

Utah Half Ironman Report

While I am sitting here not moving (which feels awesome), I figured I would report on the Utah 1/2 Ironman. It was a fun race and I had a great time. I was a little concerned about the weather forecast but other than some wind and a crappy 15 minute rainstorm (imagine getting pelted in the face with rock salt), the weather cooperated nicely. The gun went off at 6:45 and after getting kicked in the face repeatedly, I hung back and found my groove for the 1.2 mile swim. I hope I don't have some disease after spending that much time in Utah Lake. Out of the water and on to the bike. The first 28 miles went by fast but then the wind picked up a little bit and I was ready to be done. It was hard not to think about the run that was coming up fast. After ditching the bike and donning my running kicks, I was off for a quick 13.1 mile jaunt. It wasn't as quick as I thought it was going to be. I started cramping up really bad about mile 7 and had to push through the last loop. I had no idea your groin could cramp. I lost my calves (not very big or helpful in the first place), then the hamstrings went. Just for good measure, my groin decided to join the cramp party. Finally, the finish line was in sight and after one last round of cramps, I made it across the finish line. All in all, I had a good time but am glad that it is done and over with.

I want to give a special thanks to Jordie, Heather, and my Mom for coming down (EARLY) and supporting me. It was a huge lift seeing them and knowing that they would be at certain points cheering me on. Spending that much time swimming, biking, and running gives you a lot of time with just your thoughts (no iPod's allowed). It helps to know that you have loved ones waiting for you. Also, the volunteers, race staff, and fellow competitors were great and very uplifting at times.

Here are a few pics from the days events...

First things first...I had an AWESOME support crew. A huge thanks to my Mom for coming down even though she probably had other things to do. Thanks to Heather for being a great coach and for bringing the cowbell. Most of all, I want to thank my sweetheart Jordan for allowing me to spend the time training (which means less time with her and taking care of Garrett) and for supporting me in all of my races. Also, she stayed up late making the "Iron Turkey" t-shirts (which are awesome and will cost you big $$$). I love you and am grateful more than you will ever know.

I just wanted to wish my best friend in the whole wide world a happy birthday! It's been nearly ten years since I've known Chad and I can honestly say that there has never been a dull moment. He is one of the funniest people I know! This is one of my favorite things about Chad. He is also a fantastic dad! Garrett lights up every time Chad walks in the room. We couldn't ask for a better friend, husband and dad. We love you so much. Happy birthday babe! Hope your day is wonderful!

We've been pretty slack in our updates this summer. We've enjoyed a full plate of parties, BBQ's, Lake Powell, bike rides, and much more. Here is a quick recap of some of the events and pictures of our summer.

**Disclaimer** We went to Lake Powell in June and it never seems to go as planned. In the last few years, we've had truck tire blowouts, broken water pumps, houseboats floating away (twice), sleeping in strangers basements. Now we can add a blowout on the boat tralier and starting a brush fire to the list of exciting activities.

Salem Spring Triathlon

I competed in my first triathlon a couple weeks ago and had a great time. A big thanks to Heather for sucking me into the sport and being such a great support and an awesome coach, but this post is a shout out to my wonderful wife Jordan. She is my #1 fan and and such an incredible support. She hasn't missed a single one of my races, even though it isn't always fun or easy to be so supportive. Thank you sweetheart for letting me "do my thing." Thanks to all of you for supporting the crazies.

Happy birthday Garrett! He turns one year old today and we can't believe it's only been a year. It is getting tough to remember life without him. We had a VERY eventful 2009 and are hoping that 2010 isn't nearly as "exciting." Jordie has made a resolution to stay away from the hospital, especially if she has to be taken by an ambulance. Chad has resolved to NOT do an Ironman Triathlon. Garrett is going to get a job and stop freeloading. Otis HAS to lose weight. Happy new year to you all...we hope it's a good one for ya.

It's been quite a while since our last update, so here is an obligatory post with a few pre-Christmas pics. I am sure there will be many more forthcoming after the holiday festivities.

Garrett is almost 9 months old and changes a little bit every day. He loves to yell, has two teeth and counting, and "scoots" around the house at warp speed. It's amazing how fast he can get around when he's motivated.

Jordie and I just spent a week in Puerto Vallarta and had a great time. Good food, great weather, and a lot of relaxing. I made Jordan go to a time-share presentation with me and she didn't enjoy it very much. It made it a little better when they gave us about $600 worth of stuff for listening...

We laid on the beach, played on ziplines in the jungle, did some repelling, and went surfing with an awesome lady we met at the airport. We had a lot of good food and made some pretty interesting friends. All in all, it was a great trip and we're looking forward to going back.

Marathon Success!

Well, no gutter-naps this time around. Aside from some pretty painful cramps starting at mile 20, the St. George Marathon was a success. I finished in 4:11 (actual time) and had a great time. I was a little bummed that I didn't break the 4-hour mark, but also happy that I didn't end up in the gutter. My sister and brother-in-law both ran with me...congrats to all. In addition to the marathon, we had a great weekend in the sunshine. Thanks for all the words of support and encouragement, especially from those at the finish line and those running with me.

With only 4 days left until the St. George Marathon, I thought it was appropriate to re-visit the debacle that was the Top of Utah Marathon last year. As many of you know, I had a little bit of an issue finishing my first marathon last fall (body shutting down at mile 14, passing out, concussion, etc.). However, I still managed to finish the race (with some help from Heather and my brother-in-law Paul), and in a respectable time given the fact that I took a lovely hour-long nap/break at mile 26. We had a very eventful Labor Day weekend that started out with a trip to Cedar City/St. George for Troy's football game, golfing, and a little pool time. Saturday was low-key with some friends coming over to watch the BYU game (absolutely fantastic!!!). Sunday, we headed up to Farmington for Tyler Kartchners blessing and Monday, we all went to the Bees game. Not a bad weekend. Garretts first live football game, first BYU football game, and his first baseball game.

Garrett was a little unsure of the water, but ultimately enjoyed it and everybody took turns enjoying him. He was such a trooper during the entire trip, even during the day-long excursion to Rainbow Bridge. Thanks to Jordie's family for having us down!

Lake Powell...Part One

Jordan, Garrett, and I packed up the truck last week to head down to Lake Powell for a few days with Jordans family. The adventure started to go "flat" when the truck (pulling the boat) had a blow out just outside of Beaver. Apparantly, the tires on my truck are made of gold and a replacement could not be found in all of southern Utah. After a few hours and the installation of a mismatched tire, we were on the road again, but it would be too late to launch the boat once we got to the lake. Not thinking it would be an issue, we decided to stay the night in beautiful Page, AZ. To our surprise, there were NO rooms available in the entire city, not even in the creepy motels. Lucky for us, we found a bed and breakfast which actually turned out to be a room in the basement of Verda Geigers split-entry house. The owner was very nice and even set up a pack n' play for Garrett. So, if you're ever looking for a place to stay in Page...

Jordie gives me a hard time because when we watch TV, I always have the remote in hand...apparently, Garrett is not much different. We were in the kitchen and came out to find Garrett playing "couch commando" and watching Sportscenter (of course).

What a bunch of freaks

Before we left for the race, Heather and I tried on a small part of our costumes

Well, we finished the 188 mile Wasatch Back Relay in about 30 hours. Luckily, we didn't have to wear the 70's outfits the whole time! After 188 miles and over 30 hours in the same vehicle with the same people (luckily we were able to take a shower during that time), I was more than ready to be done. Glad to say that I did it, and all in all it was a fun (?) experience. It wasn't so much the amount of running, it was the running that you had to do after being awake for over 28 hours and sleeping for 30 minutes on a gymnasium floor in some high school in the middle of nowhere!

Bottom line, we made it...and I look damn good in those shorty-shorts!

For those who might not have heard, Jordie's father, Craig, passed away last Thursday night. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. His sense of humor, dry wit, and practical jokes always brought smiles to our faces. We will miss him very much, but we know that he is in a better place now. We are so grateful that he was able to meet and spend time with Garrett before he died. Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

The three of us attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house last Saturday and it was a great day. The new temple is beautiful and it was neat to be able to go through as a family, espacially now that we have Garrett. It has a little different feeling and a deeper meaning now that he is here.

It's Been A Little While

We haven't posted anything for while, so here are a few pics to update. Since Garrett pretty well dominates our lives now, they are mainly centered around him. At his 2 month doctors appointment, he was 12 1/2 lbs and 25 inches. Apparently very tall, a little skinny, and he has a pin head. We still like him and think he's pretty cute, expecially now that he has slept through the night for a couple weeks in a row.

I wanted to wish a belated happy birthday to Jordie. She turned 28 on April 21st (yeah, this is REAL late, but I'm new to the blog thing and forget) and we celebrated by eating sushi for the first time since we found out Jordan was pregnant. It was also the first time we had been out without Garrett since he was born, unless you count staying at the hospital with an E-Coli infection as a romantic weekend getaway...

Garrett has come a long way since his first bath a month ago. He really loves bath time, however, he usually turns it into shower time both for himself and for whoever is bathing him. I have no idea why he pees as soon as he is "free" but it is pretty amusing nonetheless.

About a week after Jordan came home from the hospital (the first time), she apparently got bored and wanted to go back. Long story short, she had an E-Coli infection in her blood and kidneys and spent a little time in the ICU. She is home and doing much better now. A special thanks to all for all the support, phone calls, prayers, meals, etc..

We welcomed Garrett Chad Bunting into our family (such as it is since Otis was the only "child" to this point) on March 30, 2009 at 12:32 P.M. He was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 21" long. Jordie did absolutely fantastic, thanks to the epidural, and we couldn't be happier. I was just glad he had all the proper quantities of appendages.
